Rather than focusing only on the physical body, Ananda Yoga explores the energy of each asana, channeling it toward awakening.
Ananda Yoga includes 31 classic yoga postures (asana), a variety of traditional breathing techniques (pranayama), the role of the energy body (chakras) in personal growth and powerful, life-changing affirmations that accompany the postures.
One primary quality of Ananda Yoga is its ability to be modified for the individual practitioner. These modifications allow a yoga posture or routine to become increasingly energizing for some or individually easeful and relaxing for another.
The 200-hour Ananda Yoga Teacher Training also explores the primary scripture of Yoga, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, including Ashtanga Yoga, the eight-fold path. Also explored is the Bhagavad Gita, Anatomy and Physiology, Restorative Yoga, Mantra Meditation, and the three paths of Yoga.
Go beyond physical exercise into the deeper realms of Yoga. For more than 40 years, Ananda has been training teachers in the full range of the yoga tradition as taught by Paramhansa Yogananda.
Notes & Details:
The Ananda Yoga 200-hour training program, when completed, allows the graduate to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200.
Classes usually take place at Ananda Palo Alto, two Saturdays per month, over a 9-month period.
